What is UFO Tarts?

UFO tart is a dessert with pillow soft cake base topped with fluffy egg white and in the middle part is the egg yolk. It is called mostly UFO or Cow Dung tart in Sandakan where it was originated. It is a very popular and well known tart which can only be found in Sandakan, my hometown. In Cantonese we call it "Ngau Si Dui" which sounds disgusting when making order right? Anyway all the natives of Sandakan know what it is , you don't have to feel shy saying it aloud when ordering. By the look of it sometimes you will miss it because Ufo is not a beauty, hahaha. Due to the steps and methods in making this type of tart which is quite tedious, not many coffee shops are selling it.

Now Sandakan's famous UFO tarts had landed in S'pore and since I had the skill of doing it, I can offer you my local dessert with love. One tart is not enough. You will surely come back for more like we natives of Sandakan do ^_^

Little quick facts about Sandakan

Sandakan is a small town located in the north-east coast of Sabah, a state in East Malaysia. It is known as "Little Hong Kong" because a lot of famous food can be found there such as the UFO tarts as mentioned here, roasted pork, crispy waffles, fried noodles from the markets, etc. Seafood lovers will love the fresh seafood that are being offered there. Natives of Sandakan are generally friendly and helpful.

There are interesting places to visit in Sandakan such as the famous Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary, Turtle Islands Park, Gomantong Caves and St. Michael's Church which is more than a hundred years old.
